I have found myself repeatedly using the phrase “statistically significant data” in recent discussions about paid search efforts, Facebook advertising, email marketing or site traffic in general. I also realized that I’m more than adecade removed from my last statistics class, so I might be am probably using the wrong term. What I mean when I say this is, “do we have enough data about this outcome to draw a conclusion or make a decision?”

For those that love nerd-ing out on this kind of stuff: I stumbled across a few really interesting articles loaded with actual formulas forcalculating significant sample size(s) , statistically significant outcomes and standard deviation. I even found a neat calculator for establishing a good number of subjects (AKA site visitors or ad impressions) for an A|B test.

For the rest of you, it likely makes intuitive sense that you can’t draw a really solid conclusion about adperformance on a few clicks or conversions. The smaller a data set, the more a few outliers can skew your data. With all of the chatter in the digital marketing space about more data equalling more intelligence and decision making capacity, it’s equally important to understand when and how that data becomes worth something. Each ad, ad set, ad group or ad campaign is, of course, unique. And depending ontargeting, search terms, or desired outcome it willrequire analyzing and comparing different metrics.

Scenario one:

This is a very simplistic take on this problem, but right away you may have a sense of which scenario is likely to generate moreactionable data.

In the first scenario, given the CPM (cost per thousand impressions)we have enough budget to reach 100,000 people while in the second we have the same budget – but can only reach 10,000 people. While the second may show higher blended click-through rates (because newsfeed clicks-through better), there are also 4 variants instead of 2 as in scenario one.

Furthermore, depending on if these ads were run in separate ad groups or the same, Facebook may have optimized for the best performing creative asset too soon and not given the other three times to get enough impressions and draw a conclusion. The first scenario may generate a fair number of clicks (thought at lower click-throughs) and because there are only two variants of copy we could probably tell with that $100 spend which copy is grabbing more clicks.

If you are bidding on very specific and narrow keyword groups, you are likely to get less overall search volume, and therefore lower clicks regardless of CTR (click-through rate). The more broad the search terms, of course, the more search volume and potential data one can gather – of course these will also be more expensive clicks in all likelihood.

When an item comes up for bid that you are interested in, you simple hold your bidding paddle up, deposit a quarter or two (depending on the value of the item) into the bucket. A number is drawn and if it is your paddle number you win! We will have several home based businesses also selling their items.

Vendors present will be: Pampered Chef, Origami Owl, thirty-one bags, Scentsy, Tastefully Simple, Pink Zebra, Jamberry Nails, Tupperware, and more.

This Quarter Auction is a fundraiser to help Robert Clary fight Mantle Cell Lymphoma and prepare for a Bone Marrow Transplant.

MURDER AT RACK HOUSE WEST WINERY!

WHO: Upstage Productions

WHAT: Inter-active Murder Mystery Dinner Theater Shows.

WHEN: The last Tuesday of the month and various other dates, beginning August 25, 2015.

RESERVATIONS: (636) 244-0574

DESCRIPTION: Actor / comedian KEVIN O’BRIEN is well known for his “killer entertainment”. For almost twenty years he and his actors have been performing his inter-active comedy murder mysteries literally all over the world.

He explains how his mysteries work: “As the audience arrives they are assigned new identities for the evening — some of them becoming suspects in the crime. The shows are very fast-paced and funny, half scripted and half improvised. As the mystery unfolds, a murder occurs, and the audience must figure out ‘who dunnit’. People have a tremendous time hamming it up.”

Indeed, O’Brien and his actors play multiple parts in each of his mysteries — sometimes playing as many as five characters per show. In addition, each mystery has a different theme, which is plain from titles such as DEATH AT DUCK DYNASTY, I’LL BE HOMICIDAL FOR CHRISTMAS, GILLIGAN’S ISLAND OF DEATH, and MAYBERRY R.I.P.

O’Brien and his actors are on the road year round, and have even performed at military bases as far away as Korea and Australia. Kevin’s troupe appears regularly at several wineries across the United States. In addition, they have performed at the Governor’s Mansion in Missouri, and for HBO in New York. He and his actors can be seen worldwide on Kevin’s television series, The Theater of the Word on EWTN.

For more information on the murder mystery season at Rack House West Winery, call (636) 244-0574.

This event will be canceled if the 20 people minimum isn’t reached within 7 days of the event.

Historic Missouri Wine Country -- Augusta, Missouri

Plein Air, meaning “in the open air,” is a form of art created outdoors. The artist listens to their senses, paying particular attention to the light. Focusing on the scenery around them, they listen to the sounds, take in the atmosphere, and feel the climate, which inspires them to express their vision on canvas. The root of Plein Air goes back to 19th century Europe. At this time, the impressionists deviated from the rules of art and headed outdoors to pain peasant life. The expansion of the railroad allowed artist to paint unchartered territory with an endless number of beautiful landscapes to be explored. By the mid 19th century, the realists began an artistic revolution, paying close attention to the light in nature. They began painting pictures by “trusting their eyes” using the colors they literally saw the light creating. Today, in keeping with the cultural heritage of Augusta, Missouri, we invite artists to come and share their interpretation of our beautiful countryside and historical structures. Join us for one of the workshops being held during the 2016 Augusta Plein Air Art Festival: http://www.augustapleinair.com/event-gallery/ !

Chaumette Winery

We’re so pleased to bring you these fantastic performers in our live entertainment calendar lineup for 2016, and we hope that you will join us for great music, great views and great wine this season! Live entertainment is complimentary, at Chaumette, as always. :) This isn't just the tag line in a song from Hailey Steele's self-titled EP. To her, it's become a motto - a hopeful thought that carries her through rough days. "I literally had to be dropped off at my write the day we wrote Diamonds, because my Bug had died. For good. I didn't know what I was gonna do. And so we just wrote what I was feeling that day. I say what I think and I write my life."

No stranger to the Nashville struggle, her highs and lows can be heard in her music. Steele’s lyrics touch on being a twenty-something girl who's not sure how she's going to pay her rent, wishing that she had things a little more figured out by now. She covers the ups and downs of love, victimizing her heart's counterpart on "You Made It That Way" (Steele/Terry McBride/Derrick Southerland), but keeps it light and fun with a road trip to Vegas in "Getaway Car" (Steele/Nathan Chapman). Steele also has a unique woman-to-woman perspective that gives a nod to her classic country heroes with songs "Boyfriend" and "High Horse."

This earned him two Most Outstanding Musician awards in the Bakersfield College Jazz Ensemble. In addition, he won two Outstanding Soloist awards for his appearances at the Fullerton College Jazz festival. His love for music turned professional during the mid 90s. He was invited to record with the local band, "The Pleasure Merchants" in their sophomore album, "Rhyme or Reason". We’re so pleased to bring you these fantastic performers in our live entertainment calendar lineup for 2016, and we hope that you will join us for great music, great views and great wine this season! Live entertainment is complimentary, at Chaumette, as always. :)

Performer: Casey Reeves Genre: acoustic varietal Bio: Casey Reeves play and you'll feel at home. The Missouri-born singer-songwriter exudes ease and familiarity, whether playing a large venue with a full backing band, or a local hot-spot with just a stack of instruments and a looping station onstage. (Watching Reeves loop percussion, guitar, vocals, and harmonica live will leave you awestruck – and he makes it seem so easy!). That sense of familiarity equally describes his songwriting. Reeves has a way of turning phrases that, despite their originality, seem like something you've known before. There's a hint of nostalgia in his work; he has an evident appreciation for folk-rock contemporaries Wilco and The Avett Brothers, but also for late century folk standards like Bob Dylan and even the age-old hymns he grew up singing. His first solo album, In Between Oceans, was both a nod to his Midwestern roots and a forward-looking project, featuring skilled musicians from all over Missouri.

Artist Bio: At age nine, Gerry Huggins began to explore the musical world with his saxophone. His talents with his sax won him the Outstanding Musician award in senior year of high school. Huggins attended Cal State University and received a BA in Communications. While studying, he continued playing his saxophone at Bakersfield College. Following that, he began playing for a variety of local bands, including "Thee Majestics", "T.O.S.B (The Old School Band)", and "The Rhythm Kings". After collaborating with keyboardist Darnell Gholston, he realized that his true passion was smooth jazz and RB. Funk, jazz and old school styles are also among the genres Huggins exceeds in. His technique also can stretch from classical to big band. We’re so pleased to bring you these fantastic performers in our live entertainment calendar lineup for 2016, and we hope that you will join us for great music, great views and great wine this season! Live entertainment is complimentary, at Chaumette, as always. :)

A singer/songwriter with powerhouse vocals, Kearns was born in Harrisburg, Illinois. She showed an early interest in music, and picked up her first guitar at age four. Drawing inspiration from her father and the songwriting talents of Stevie Nicks, John Mayer and Norah Jones she began honing her own songwriting craft at the age of fifteen. Kearns then began performing her own songs at acoustic shows in local venues at the age of eighteen.

She met Nate McCoy while playing a local show and the band Darling Parade was later formed, with the addition of members Casey Conrad and Dustin McCoy. In 2009, Kearns moved to Nashville, TN to pursue music full-time. They released two EPs, landing placements on SyFy Channel's Stargate Universe, ABC Family's "The Lying Game", CW Channel's "Flygirls", and Showtime's "Shameless." The band’s success grew in 2011 with the release of the band’s third EP, “Until We Say It’s Over”, and landed the band the #8 spot on Billboard’s Next Big Sound chart. The first single “Never Wrong” received airplay on both MTVu and VH1. It also included, “Remember”, featuring guest vocals by Anberlin frontman, Stephen Christian. The spring of 2012, brought the band their first national tour with Cassadee Pope (Hey Monday, NBC’s The Voice).

Upon completing two additional national tours they returned back to the studio in Nashville partnering with Jon King of Page 2 Music, and released their first full length album “Battle Scars Broken Hearts” in 2013. They released their single "Ghost" on XM Radio's "Top 20 on 20" station followed by their single "Crash and Burn." That same summer they performed live at MTV’s O Music Awards in New York City where they took home the MTV and VH1's “Make a Band Famous” award. They later became MTV's Artist to watch November 2013, performing VMA week with Hot Chelle Rae, and Fifth Harmony. Darling Parade is currently featured in a nationwide Supercuts "Rock The Cut" Campaign airing on ESPN.

After touring most of 2014, Kearns is back in Nashville in between penning new music and returning to the studio with Darling Parade, she is currently performing acoustically at various wineries, live music venues, and weddings. She will soon be releasing her first acoustic EP in the spring of 2016.

His debut album, "Ocean Breeze" was released in 2002; only to be followed by "A Very Special Christmas" in 2005 and "From the Heart" in 2007. Huggins is currently working on new material and hopefully will be released in the near future. Huggins continues to freelance in the Southern California area. He has a son, and resides in Bakersfield, CA.

Born and raised in Fredericktown, MO. Inspired musically by my father and by my friends who were musicians. Began playing guitar at age 15. Between then and now I've played in numerous bands; Shiver, For Something More, Awnslaught, Replica and Johnny Fever, and for the past several years I have played solo acoustic performances. Very classic rock inspired but I play a very wide range of genres, from classic rock to new rock to pop and some country.

Shawnee Bluff Vineyard

Lorrie Morgan returns to Shawnee Bluff Vineyard on July 15th! Tickets on Sale Sat, 2/27/16, at 8am.

Morgan has long been the envy of her peers for her lustrous vocal phrasing and the down-to-earth believability of her torchy performances. On records such as “A Picture of Me Without You” and “I Guess You Had to Be There,” she ached with pain. She was feisty and sassy in “Watch Me,” “What Part of No” “Five Minutes” and “I Didn’t Know My Own Strength.” She has kicked up her stiletto heels in fun on her hits “Except for Monday” and “Go Away.” On her epic “Something in Red” she was an anguished, struggling everywoman.

Her performances on her new album "Letting go...Slow" can match any of her earlier efforts, for they are among the most vibrant of her career. The collection is divided equally between new songs and her reinventions of country classics.

Gates open at 5pm, Music starts at 5pm with Lorrie Morgan taking the stage at 8pm.

Food by Carl Blake with Rustik Roasts. Carl will be serving up his famous pork! Hot dogs and Brats also available. All starting at 5pm.

FIREWORKS after the show by Brilliant Skies.

All ages show! Kids 5 and under are free for standing room only. A ticket must be purchased for reserved seating.

Parking Fee of $5 and 50% of proceeds for to Local Charity. L.A.M.B.
